Factory 16″ squeeze-cast aluminum alloy wheels wear 225/50 Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires. The R1 Package added firmer springs, Bilstein dampers, and a front shock tower support brace.
The cabin features bolstered seats trimmed in R1-specific black microsuede along with RX-7-branded floor mats. Amenities include power accessories, rear storage bins, drilled aluminum pedals, air conditioning, and a factory cassette stereo.
A leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a central tachometer, a 180-mph speedometer, and supplementary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 42k miles, of which approximately 2k were added under current ownership.
The twin-turbocharged 1.3-liter 13B rotary engine was factory rated at 255 horsepower with 217 lb-ft of torque. A strut-tower brace spans the engine bay, and R1 models featured dual oil coolers. The oil pan was replaced in June 2019, and recent service included replacing the fuel pump and an oil change.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. Additional underside photos are shown in the gallery below.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to Carey Lakeshore Mazda in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and lists factory colors and equipment along with a total vehicle price of $32,720.
