The Mistral coupe was introduced at the 1963 Turin Motor Show with fastback styling by Pietro Frua and remained in production through 1969 alongside a spyder variant that arrived in 1964. Construction incorporated a steel box-section frame with either aluminum or steel bodywork built by Turin coachbuilder Maggiora. This example is finished in Aubergine and is outfitted with a black Webasto folding sunroof that can be seen in the open position in the photo gallery below. Imperfections include a crack in the finish adjacent to the hood scoop trim and a chip along one of the rear wheel arches.
Borrani wire wheels are secured by three-eared knock-offs and wear 205/70R15 Michelin X One tires, while a trunk-mounted spare is mounted with Avon Turbospeed rubber. Stopping is handled by Girling disc brakes, while suspension incorporates a coil-spring double-wishbone front setup and a leaf-sprung solid rear axle.
The cabin is trimmed in beige leather over seating for two with matching upholstery over the door panels, console, and rear cargo area side panels. Color-keyed carpeting lines the footwells, center tunnel, cargo area floor, and the inner surfaces of dual storage compartments behind the seats. Areas of wear are exhibited on the surfaces of the driver’s seat. Additional features include air conditioning, power windows, beige lap belts, and an Alpine stereo.
The Secura wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 300-km/h speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer flanking a quintet of gauges monitoring coolant temperature, amperage, fuel level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 52k kilometers (~33k miles), approximately 300 of which have been added by the seller. The seller notes that the tachometer reads high.
The 4.0-liter inline-six features an aluminum block with cast-iron cylinder liners, an aluminum cylinder head with hemispherical combustion chambers, and dual overhead camshafts. Lucas mechanical fuel injection has been retained, while ignition is handled by two spark plugs per cylinder. A maintenance service was reportedly performed within the last 500 kilometers.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a ZF five-speed manual transmission.
